The company started off as an
investment club, with one hundred (100) members. These members then decided to move into the active business, and settled on the Agriculture Sector, particularly to build silos and deal in grain which is critical for food security.
This is how Sprout Capital Investments (SCIL) Ltd was born. The entity bought fifty (50) acres of land in Busunju, about 55km from Kampala, along the Hoima Road, just before Busunju
town. The company then erected grain cleaning, drying and storage facilities with a capacity to dry about 10 mt/hr, clean 30 mt/hr, and store 12,600 mt at any one time. The supplier for all equipment was Alvan Blanch of UK.
